About Fighting Spirit Martial Arts

Hello and welcome to Fighting Spirit Martial Arts, my sanctuary for sharing the enduring legacy and evolving practices of martial arts. My name is Jeffrey Weese, and I’m writing to you from Trenton, Ontario, Canada, where I balance my life as a martial artist with the joys and duties of being a husband and father to four wonderful children.

My Philosophy

This blog isn’t another martial arts club or a traditional dojo; it’s a reflection of my journey, a compendium of knowledge, and a place where curiosity meets discipline. I believe in the power of lifelong learning, and through Fighting Spirit Martial Arts, I aim to provide a resource that grows, informs, and explores the vast and varied landscape of martial arts.

Why Fighting Spirit Martial Arts?

Martial arts is a passion that resonates through every facet of my life, echoing the disciplined rhythms of Chito-Ryu Karate and Canadian Jiu-Jitsu dojos as well as the serene symphony of nature’s landscapes where I often retreat to hunt and fish. Amidst this diverse tapestry, I’ve discovered that the fighting spirit is not only honed through physical exertion but also in the quiet moments of reflection and through the expressive dance of words on a page. As a fervent writer, I find solace and strength in the act of writing, which allows me to weave my thoughts and experiences into a narrative that captures the essence of stillness and action—key components of the martial artist’s journey.

In my pursuit of martial arts, the black belts I’ve earned in Chito-Ryu Karate and Canadian Jiu-Jitsu serve as milestones in an ongoing journey of self-realization and personal improvement, rather than endpoints of mastery. This path has been greatly influenced by the teachings of my esteemed instructors, Senseis Bob and Bev Leonard, and Sensei Robert Walther, who have each contributed to the depth and breadth of my martial knowledge and philosophy. Their lessons extend beyond the dojo, echoing through my professional life, which has spanned from culinary arts to payroll accounting, and most recently, has led me to embrace the challenges of Information Management and Technology. These varied experiences continue to inform my approach to martial arts as a practice of lifelong learning and growth.

Fighting Spirit Martial Arts is a testament to the martial artist’s path I walk every day—a path of integrity, respect, and continuous improvement. Whether you’re a seasoned practitioner or just beginning to explore this world, I invite you to read, engage, and grow with me.

Let’s embark on this journey together, where every step forward is a step deeper into the art that teaches us about combat, yes—but more so about ourselves.

With respect and anticipation,
Jeffrey Weese
